If you’ve ever made a call to LithiumHost, you probably realised that we use GrandCentral to support our phone system. GrandCentral provides us with so many tools so that we can better serve you.
If you are not sure what GrandCentral is, let me explain. GrandCentral began around the same time LithiumHost did few years back with the idea that you should have one number for everything. It would link together your home, cell, work numbers under a single “GrandCentral” number. It allows for you to pick up the call where ever you were plus a few other features such as voicemail, call record, caller management, etc. When I discovered it, I felt that we could apply it to our needs perfectly, and it has worked well for our purpose. Currently we have it linked to our office, and each of our cell phones.
Now, if you are as much of a Google Fan as I am, you may have seen that Google purchased GrandCentral almost two years ago. Well, they have finally put it to use and have renamed GrandCentral to Google Voice.
LithiumHost has now updated to Google Voice, and we couldn’t be more impressed. There are several new features that allow for us to much better serve you. There are two feature I suggest all of our clients take advantage of.
The first feature is the improved voicemail service. There are times when calling into LithiumHost that we will be unable to answer a call. It is not that we don’t want to, and we try not to make a habit of it. However, now when a voicemail is left, our phones instantly receive a transcribed text message of the voicemail so we can get the ball rolling for your needs and when we call back we are that much closer to helping you.
The second feature I hope becomes mainstream for LithiumHost users is that you are now able to send SMS Text Messages to our phone number from your cell or an online service such as AIM. This is a very useful feature and I feel that it brings tech support to a whole new level. Text messaging seems to be even more popular than the the Backstreet Boys when they first came out. Okay, maybe not. But it is definately close. If you seem to be having issues and do not feel like opening up your email client or speaking on the phone, then I suggest you try sending us a text message. We understand most short hand so do not worry about that.
Well that is what’s new with us for now. Stay tuned as we have big changes coming soon! Ohh a secret! How exciting!
